Discoveries records activity against the email address you verify at sign-in. Your engagement is not anonymous.
What we record
- Your verified email address and login timestamps.
- The company profiles opened and when they are opened.
- Current thumbs-up or thumbs-down choices, plus a history of votes, changes and cleared votes.
Browsing the company overview does not itself create a company-profile view. Opening a company’s detail page does. Clearing a vote removes the current choice but does not remove the earlier audit history.
Signing in
To sign in, you enter your email address and Venture Dock emails you a six-digit code, which expires after a short time. Entering the code proves you control that address, so recorded activity is tied to a verified email. Anyone can sign in with an email address they control.
Who can see it, and why
Portal administrators can see readers’ recorded sign-ins, profile views and votes, and download activity exports. This helps Venture Dock understand interest in the featured companies and improve the reading experience.
Cookies, storage and providers
The portal uses an essential session cookie to keep you signed in and a security cookie to protect form submissions. Authentication attempts are rate-limited. Sign-in codes are issued and checked by Venture Dock’s own sign-in service and are never stored in this portal. Hosting is provided by Render. Reader, session, vote and activity records are stored in Venture Dock’s database, in tables used only by Discoveries. Local review mode, when explicitly shown, uses temporary in-memory test records instead.
This portal does not use advertising trackers, fingerprinting or invisible third-party analytics. It does not claim to identify newsletter email opens. External company websites have their own privacy practices.
Your choices and questions
You can change or clear your current votes and sign out at any time. Signing out revokes that session; it does not erase recorded activity. A retention schedule has not yet been finalized. For questions or a data-removal request, contact aly@venturedock.com.
